Book clubs or literature circles have become a vital activity to many of us, both in our classrooms and in our own lives. We know that reading and discussing books with your friends is one of the true building-blocks of lifelong literacy. So in Chicago, for example, some of our Center for City Schools network buildings have kid book clubs, teacher book clubs, and parent book clubs all going at once.

Book clubs at Walloon!
This year's book choices for our book clubs are:

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Linda See

An author study of David Sedaris—participants may bring any of all of his works.

Please bring your books with you to the Institute.

If literature circles/book clubs are new to you, you might want to have a look at Mini-lessons for Literature Circles, by Walloon director Harvey Daniels and Nancy Steineke.
